Grants made  from Healthy Youth Healthy Seniors Fund at Canton Community Foundation.

New Hope Center for Grief Support- $5,000 New Hope plans to expand School-Based Grief Program in the Plymouth-Canton Community School District. It currently offers the program at the four Plymouth-Canton High Schools (Plymouth, Canton, Salem, and Starkweather). District leadership values New Hope’s program and wants to gradually expand across all the elementary and middle schools (19 schools).

Miracle League of Plymouth - $3,500 Winter Holiday Party an indoor event, fully catered, for all the special needs families (including mothers and all children within those families)

Rainbow Connection - $2,000 Special Response for Canton Wish Families. The program will assist wish families who have unexpected financial burdens coinciding with having to care for a child in a critical condition. Along with IMMEDIATE relief in the areas of groceries, gas, car repairs, rent/mortgage, utilities, furniture, clothing, funeral expenses, and other emergent needs.

Partnership for Arts & Humanities - $2,000 Adaptive Creative Expression. To launch new adaptive arts and movement-based programming at the Village Arts Factory for a youth demographic that has been widely and historically underserved and will benefit from opportunities to explore and build new skills (communication, fine/gross motor, etc.,) while forming important social connections and meaningful ties to the community.

 New Hope Center for Grief - $5000  grant would support a summer camp for kids grieving the death of a parent, sibling, family member or friend. The grant would help expand capacity for this camp to be able to support 75 grieving children.

 

First Step - $3500 grant would enable First Step to install a security alarm and camera system for the First Step Plymouth office. This grant would support infrastructure investment for the First Step Plymouth office, as perpetrators of domestic violence or sexual assault can sometimes be dangerous and threatening.

 Plymouth YMCA - $3500 grant would provide aid, allowing 50 children to attend 1 week of Day Camp and support families as they return to work. As an impact of COVID-19 more families are requesting financial assistance due to reduced or lost income throughout the past year.

 

Kirk Gibson Foundation - $10,000 grant from Howard A. & Clayton E Elliot Charitable fund at Canton Community Foundation. It would be used towards general charitable pupose of Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson's. It is dedicated to raising awareness of Parkinson's Disease, funding research, and promoting collaboration & teamwork.

 

Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division - $10,000 grant for fight against human trafficking program. The grant will be used towrds fight against human trafficking with new initiative. In collaboration with the Michigan State Police, the Salvation Army has created a taskforce called the Joint Anti-Trafficking Taskforce (JATT) with the goal of developing a multidisciplinary human trafficking task force that implements trauma-informed, survivor-centered, collaborative, and sustainable approaches to Identify victims of all types of human trafficking within specific geographic areas. Investigate and prosecute sex trafficking and labor trafficking cases. Address the indiviualized needs of victims through the provision of a comprehensive array of quality services.
