In 2016 Dave Siegrist (Plymouth resident, business owner, and board member of the Community Foundation of Plymouth) gathered his fellow CFP board members together with the powerful voices of the many service clubs in the Plymouth community to create the Greater Plymouth Service Project.
Dave's vision was to spread the word about the good work that all of these Plymouth organizations were doing to better not only our community, but our country and our world.
Dave and other community leaders partnered with Kids Coalition Against Hunger to host the first Greater Plymouth Service Project where they packaged 250,000 meals in one day.
After Dave's passing in 2017, this group of community leaders made the committment to continue Dave's mission of feeding the hungery children in the greater Plymouth/Canton communities and beyond.
Dave's motto was "many hands make light work." With that said, each spring 1500 volunteers gather at PARC to package 250,000 meals that are distributed to local food banks, shipped around the country after natural disasters, and around the world to assist with global hunger.
Kids Coalition Against Hunger is an independent 501(c)3 humanitarian food relief organization whose mission is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and feed starving children throughout the world. We partner with KCAH to host the annual Greater Plymouth/Canton Service Project. For more information about KCAH or about hosting your own event, visit their website at kidscoalitionagainsthunger.org.
